The guiltiest of guilty pleasures is set to dust off its guns yet again and give us another round with news that The Expendables 4 is most definitely on the way, planning to shoot as early as next year.
Set for release in 2017, there’s no confirmation just yet on who will be in, or out, and shaking their heavy weaponry all about (I know how that sounds, but it’s out there now – too late). What we do know is that a lot of the money for financing the film with an undeniably huge body count will be coming from China, where the last film did so well.
Raking in a whopping $80m with Expendables 3, Mr. Christmas and co. will be getting a budget of around $100m (the franchises biggest yet) to entertain us, most of which will probably be paying the cast. Not you though Mr. Willis, you stay there.
Following the news, executive producer Steve Paul said, “what seems to work in their favour in China, is that these movies are good old-fashioned shoot ’em up entertainment.” That’s true, now if only the fourth film could actually be good, that’d be helpful.
Expect more Expendable-related news in the coming months.
