Celebrating his 72nd birthday last week, Sylvester Stallone got a birthday cake and a brand new poster for his reprisal as Rocky Balboa in the sequel to surprising uppercut smash, Creed in Creed II. It’s dark, it’s moody, it’s got Sly looking cool as ice. I wants it!
Following on from the events of Ryan Coogler’s Creed, the second chapter in the brand new series sees Michael B. Jordan back as Adonis Creed, now firmly established outside the shadow of his late father Apollo, who died in the ring at the hands of Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. But the sins of the father still rest upon the son and when Drago’s son Viktor steps into the ring, Adonis must face a new foe and his own demons to remain reigning champion.
Way back when even the first film was announced, bets were on that Creed Jr. and Drago Jr. would meet in the ring. Instead, director Ryan Coogler gave us something different and we were just as satisfied and massively surprised with what we got. Coogler isn’t around for this match though, and instead, Steven Caple Jr is in the director’s chair.
Joining Stallone, Jordan and Tessa Thompson for round 2 is Florian Munteanu as Viktor, and Dolph Lundgren reprising his role as breaker of men, Ivan Drago. See what happens in the ring when Creed II arrives in cinemas November 21 in the US and November 30 in the UK.
