Gerard Butler will be having his second round of day-saving pushed back a bit with news that his London-based sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, cleverly titled London Has Fallen, has now found a new slot next year after being replaced by Ridley Scott’s The Martian.
For those that may have forgot or got mixed up with Channing Tatum’s White House Down, Olympus Has Fallen saw Butler as disgraced secret service man Mike Banning bust into the President’s pad after the leader of the free world (played by Aaron Eckhart) is held hostage. The follow-up will see Banning on another mission to protect the POTUS when terrorist plan an attack during the Prime Minister’s funeral. So, he’s dead before the film even starts? Give us something cool film studios, please.
Deadline revealed that London will now fall January 22, 2016 whilst Ridley Scott’s The Martian will land in cinemas October 2. Speaking of, some brand new stills for the film have arrived online via Empire and folks, if you can’t get enough of seeing Matt Damon in another space suit then by gum, you’re going to lose your mind with these – they’ve got other people in them too! Check them and the latest trailer out below.
Admittedly, the exite-o-meter is a tad low with Butler’s upcoming actioner but Ridley Scott’s sci-fi is flickering slightly higher. In fact, The Martian and it’s trailer got our attention so much we even discussed it in the latest podcast. Give it a listen below.
