It seemed so close to happening. After the occasional excitement stirring bump in the night (mostly from Dan Akroyd), Ghostbusters 3 seemed like it was going to finally get some (after)life when rumours that funny film making pair, Chris Lord and Phil Miller had been approached to direct. Now any fans hopes of seeing New York’s finest paranormal investigators have been sucked back into the inter-dimensional portal from whence they came, following news that they’ve rejected the offer.

Lord and Miller have declined warming up the proton packs according to THR, which is a shame considering their knack for making thoroughly entertaining films out seemingly stupid ideas. Examples of their insanely amusing antics are Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs21 Jump Street and The Lego Movie, all of which have spawned franchises as a result.

If the directing duo have passed on this then surely the powers that be should take this as a sign and close the trap for good? What say you though? Do you really want to see another Ghostbusters film? Sound off in the comments below or give us a tweet or two?
