In the long list of films of actors better than the film they starred in, somewhere Timothy Olyphant is sat straightening his crimson red tie in the 2007 take on Hitman. Whilst the film was pretty by the book, Olyphant followed the rule of ‘look the part, be the part’ as everyone’s favourite bald body-dispenser. Even so, 20th Century Fox have decided to go through with pressing the restart button and putting Rupert Friend in the role, and by the looks of things history is doomed to repeat itself.
Feeling like a Terminator-chase of sorts, Friend is the titular contract killer whose latest mission is finding a woman connected to the top-secret program that made him who he is. He doesn’t feel pity, or remorse or fear, and he absolutely will not stop until
Spock sorry, Zachary Quinto is dead and he gets the girl.
Following the second look at the upcoming film, Agent 47 won’t be following in the silent footsteps of the stealth shooter it’s based on, and rather go out guns blazing and helicopters flying into the side of buildings. Not the best move to keep fans happy, but then we haven’t seen the final product to decide that. Instead, we’re going to have to wait for screen to load for Hitman: Agent 47 when it arrives in cinemas August 21.
