Slight speculation has turned to full on confirmation today after Elizabeth Olsen confirmed at the BAFTA’s last night that she’s involved in Gareth Edwards’ upcoming Godzilla film. Not only that but she also shared a few small morsels on what we can expect when Gojira comes stomping back on to screens.
Stopped on the red carpet by Absolute Radio before the ceremony, Olsen was approached about the film, echoing what has been said for some time now – that this Godzilla isn’t going to be the nicest of sorts.
“It’s definitely not lighthearted, it’s kind of going back to its roots of the original Japanese film.”
Olsen was recently revealed to be in talks for an unspecified part in Godzilla alongside Bryan Cranston whose name has also been mentioned. Weeks before Kick-Ass star, Aaron Johnson had also been in apparent talks for the lead role but there has been no confirmation since.
Considering his first big beast-orientated hit, Monsters, it’ll be interesting to see what how Edwards has interpreted the towering icon from Japan. Expect to hear plenty more about Godzilla as he slowly stomps his way to the release date of May 16, 2014.
