Someone get the clippers out, as hair seems to be sprouting from every angle of the latest Entertainment Weekly front cover, courtesy of Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson posing for Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Yee-har. Joined by Jennifer Jason Leigh in the image, this marks the first good look at the characters that will be crossing paths and pistols in Tarantino’s upcoming western.
Set a few years after the Civil War (no, not that one), The Hateful Eight follows a group of characters that hold up in stagecoach stopover as a blizzard engulfs the Wyoming countryside. Entering the establishment are John ‘The Hangman’ Ruth (Russell), his fugitive, Daisy Domergue (Leigh), and former union soldier and bounty hunter Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), all headed to the city of Red Rock. Their destination gets further away from them as soon as they step inside though, as chance encounters and impending double-crossing kicks things into what will be a traditional Tarantino-flavoured bloodbath. Lovely.
No stranger to QT’s previous works, Jackson and Russell will also be joined by the familiar faces of Michael Madsen and Tim Roth. Demian Bichir, Bruce Dern, Channing Tatum, James Parks, Zoe Bell, Belinda Owino, Lee Horsley and Craig Stark will also be along for the ride when it arrives later this year.
Even if this is a small taste of what’s in store, there’s no denying that our first look at members of The Hateful Eight is a ridiculously cool one. Be sure to keep ‘em peeled for other characters to ride into town in the coming months.
