Adapting a film to a polished up television series isn’t exactly a new formula but chances are there are some fans that won’t want to see it happen, especially when it comes to Tom Hanks Oscar-winning 80’s classic, Big. The Wrap has revealed that writers are already on board to tweak the story for the small screen.

Kevin Biegel and Mike Royce who wrote the comedy series Enlisted are being tagged to get work on the story that sees a young boy make a wish to be big. The next morning he finds his wish granted and is forced to live as an adult until he can find away to revert to his young and carefree life.

20th Century Fox are apparently handling proceedings in the series that ‘will explore what it means to be an adult and what it means to be a kid, and how in today’s world those two things are more confused than ever.’ There’s no further details on who will be stepping into the ahem…big shoes of Tom Hanks but expect some names to pop up in due course.

What do you think though? Is adapting Big to the TV format a good plan? Or should the classic and award worthy original remain untouched?
