A man that could easily strike fear into any soul whatever galaxy he’s in seems to be Benicio Del Toro. With a glare as sharp as a lightsaber and a voice as deep as a Sarlacc pit, the man is villainy personified (in the nicest possible way, of course). How fitting then, that a rumour has sprung from the Star Wars fountain that he’s currently being eyed to play the big bad in Rian Johnson’s impending instalment, Episode VIII.
Naturally details on this are as thin as just about any other Star Wars film that’s been covered, but it’s an interesting casting choice regardless. The only question is if Del Toro gives the go ahead and signs up for a part in the biggest and most beloved film franchise of all time, which shouldn’t take a lot of thought really, but you never know.
For now we can only sit and wait patiently for further confirmation but before that potential trip with Jedis and Siths and Wookies (oh my), Del Toro will most definitely be starring alongside Emily Blunt in Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario, which is set for release September 18. There’s also Star Wars: The Force Awakens which will (still blows my mind to type this) arriving in cinemas December 18 this year.
