Ex-Machina star has made her choice.

Alicia Vikander appears to be a name on many lips at the moment and for good reason. After an incredible turnout in Alex Garland’s Ex-Machina that almost left you questioning if she was indeed a robot, she’s been flitting between various projects that have been thrown in her lap, most notably being both the adaptation of popular video game series Assassin’s Creed starring Michael Fassbender, and Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon in their return to the Bourne franchise. Either one would have a high chance of her jumping over rooftops, but as Deadline have revealed she’s settled with the latter lethal weapon with a shocking memory instead.

The cast list is looking a little thin in the Bourne camp so far, with Julia Stiles being the only name added to the roster besides Damon, so Vikander coming aboard is a nice sign that the wheels are slowly turning, even if it’s not the frantic break-neck speed we’d prefer to see. To add even more interest in the agent’s return, there’s also rumours that the villain role has been offered to rarely sighted and sorely missed Viggo Mortensen, though he has yet to put his name on the dotted line, before being trained to use the pen he signed with as a deadly weapon. Either way, the film will be arriving July 29, 2016.

The bad news is that of course with this project in the pipeline she’s had no choice but to cancel her meeting with the Creed, which is in a much earlier stage than Bourne 5. Currently Fassbender is the only solid name on the cast list, taking the role of every day fella Desmond Miles, who is dragged into a top-secret organisation where he learns he is the descendant of a long since dead assassin, and that his connection in the bloodline could lead to a world-changing revelation. The film is being handled by Justin Kurzel, who is currently turning heads with his eye-wateringly wonderful looking adaptation of Macbeth, also starring Fassbender.

Vikander soon to appear in suave spy film, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. opposite Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill.

Of course with this schedule switch around, the hunt is on for someone to take Vikander’s place among the Creed, and what part she’ll be playing in Matt Damon’s return to the world of Bourne. Whilst we wait for details on both, you can see Vikander make appearances in Testament of YouthThe Man From U.N.C.L.E.Adam Jones, The Danish Girl with Eddie Redmayne, Tulip Fever and The Light Between The Oceans. All those projects, Vikander must be some sort of machi….Oh good grief. IT’S TRUE! IT’S ALL TRUE!
