In Dwayne Johnson’s ongoing mission to remind fans that he exists (which I’m totally for, by the way – the world is a better place with The Rock in it), the entertainment dynamo revealed the final trailer for his upcoming action movie, Skyscraper that looks all kinds of insanity.
With propane splashes of Die Hard and The Towering Inferno (so much so they’ve nicked the poster ideas and used them in the ones below) Johnson looks to be up to his gigantic arms in madness as former FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and war veteran, Will Sawyer, who after losing his leg in a mission gone wrong, takes the up the quiet life as a security analyst for skyscrapers.
Naturally his previous credentials come in handy this time around, when assessing the latest and greatest construction ever built, the place gets invaded by bad guys and Sawyer sets out to rescue his wife (Neve Campbell) and children who are trapped inside. Cue Johnson delivering the same amount of grimaces one does after battling that kebab from the night before, as well as taking a hop, skip and a jump off several large objects to make it to his destination. Spoilers – he almost doesn’t.
The film reunites Johnson with his Central Intelligence director, Rawson Marshall Thurber, swapping laughs for acts of action packed lunacy. It also won’t see Johnson having his ankles nipped at by Kevin Hart but specially trained henchman, instead. Don’t know which is worse, to be honest.
Skyscraper opens worldwide in cinemas July 13th. Don’t look down, apparently.
